Improve Engagement with your Open Data Policy
Learn Best Practices for an Innovative and Inclusive Open Data Policy
While Edmonton, Alberta has long been an innovator in open data, launching initiatives such as a Citizen Dashboard in 2012, the city continues pursuing improved citizen engagement and increased government transparency.
To that end the Edmonton city council approved the Open City Initiative, an open data policy designed to promote inclusiveness, innovation, transparency, and collaboration. In a recent blog post The Center for Open Data Enterprise recognized Edmonton as a “leader in open data cities”.
On Tuesday, September 15, 2015, Socrata sat down with members of the Edmonton data team, as well as representatives from The Center for Open Data Enterprise, to talk about why open data policies are becoming important for every local government. In this webinar you will learn:
- Why local governments are using open data policies to improve civic engagement
- How Edmonton designed their policy with city residents in mind
- What the response has been from the city’s avid developer and civic groups
Watch this webinar to see how open data has promoted innovative cities in the past, and how Edmonton is using that information for the future.
