Delaware Uses Data to Tackle Opioid Crisis
Rhonda Lehman is the Data Governance Lead for the state of Delaware, and it’s her goal to have the state’s agencies use data strategically — to make decisions, show the public what the state does, and attack some of the state’s biggest challenges, like the opioid crisis.
To accomplish these goals, data needs to be released from disparate systems, she says. “We want to improve data sharing across state agencies,” says Lehman, to encourage engagement among staffers.
Lehman’s latest project is bringing together datasets from all agencies on the opioid epidemic, to show the magnitude of the problem, showcase the state’s efforts, and share resources on the issue.
“When you really start getting into it, it’s helping someone do their job better, make better decisions,” says Lehman.
