The Summit overflows with learning — with over 100 of the most influential innovators and brightest minds in open government, learning’s a given! But the Summit is also about having a ton of fun.

Opening Night Happy Hour

Join us for the Welcome Happy Hour on Sunday night. Located at the POV rooftop bar of the W Hotel – renowned as the best view in Washington, D.C. – you’ll look out over the city’s spectacular landmarks and monuments while enjoying the bar’s dazzling, artistic interior.

Start your networking early, mingling with your peers from throughout your state or from the other side of the country, as well as the Summit’s visitors from abroad. Tap into a big, lively conversation, or enjoy kicking back at a corner table.

Socrata staff will be there, too, ready to make introductions and help our customers get to know each other and trade their stories.

Dinner and Open Data Comedy

Sharing a meal and a lot of laughs is a great way to connect with other attendees, and to reward yourself for all your hard work. The chance is ready and waiting for you at Monday night’s Customer Appreciation Dinner.

Plus: It starts off with a long networking cocktail hour. That’ll be the perfect chance to chase down that data scientist you wanted to get a few more minutes with after talking data privacy in the hotel elevator, or to reconnect with that performance management specialist you chatted with after a morning session. Or, just enjoy the laidback opportunity to catch up with friends from last year’s Customer Summit.

Toast Your Success!

By Tuesday evening, we’ll all be brimming with insightful information, great connections, and fresh ideas. After the final session, come raise a glass with us and your expanded network of open data practitioners. Talk over your inspirations, take a minute to refine some of those classic Summit breakthrough moments, and simply have a lot of fun.

Whether it’s your first time at the Reagan Building, or if you’re a frequent visitor, you’ll love the glorious architecture and dramatic interior – a perfect venue for capping off the Summit.

Walking Tour

Don’t go home yet! After we toast and chat at the Reagan Building, we’re all heading out for the quintessential D.C. experience: a private walking tour of the National Mall – rated #1 in Trip Advisor’s best things to do in D.C.!

Stroll along with us, enjoying the view and the company. If you’re staying for Wednesday’s Data Camp, the walking tour will be a great chance to talk with other Campers about what you want out of the day. If you’re headed home Wednesday morning, the tour will be a fun and lovely way to wrap up the whole Summit experience.

Find Your Tribe

What is more fun than finding like-minded people? Sitting at breakfast with others who instantly get your open data jokes is a beautiful thing. Talking with fellow attendees and discovering that they, too, wish someone would give them a copy of Jon Schwabish’s visualizations poster for their birthday, will make your whole day brighter.

The myriad connections, smiles, and gut-busting laughter you’ll get from face-to-face encounters at the Socrata Customer Summit get to the core of the open data movement: people working together to transform the world, one dataset at a time.
