San Mateo County Unveils Performance Tracking Site

By Elana Hopman

In a bold move toward greater government performance transparency, San Mateo County recently launched SMC Performance, a complementary site to its existing smcOpen Data Portal. SMC Performance allows the public to view progress updates on government programs, track spending, and share feedback with officials and key decision-makers.

“SMC Performance allows residents to take an in-depth look at how the dollars are spent and their effectiveness. SMC Performance holds us accountable,” says San Mateo County Supervisor Warren Slocum.

The site was created in part to track performance of Shared Vision 2025, a set of county goals and priorities developed from public meetings and surveys. The progress toward the San Mateo shared vision for a “healthy and safe, prosperous, livable, environmentally conscious and collaborative community” can be easily followed by visiting SMC Performance. Users can review raw data and explore various performance measures related to these goals.

This new program further demonstrates San Mateo County’s commitment to sharing government data and creating a collaborative community for its citizens.
