ODTV Video of the Week: Improving Quality of Life

April 24, 2015 3:18 pm PST | Effective Governing, Public Finance

For Mike Hernandez, the Director of Communications for Miami-Dade County, it’s vital for residents to know where the County’s money is spent. But just as important is access to actionable information, like say, where the traffic will be in the morning, and what public transportation is available. For Hernandez, using data to improve residents’ quality of life is just a first step in the County’s plan to become “the model government” for open data and transparency.

“We need to go farther…data should be for everyone; it shouldn’t just be for someone who submits a public records request,” says Hernandez. Watch this week’s featured ODTV video to see how Miami-Dade County is defining open data success.
