ODTV Video of the Week: Driving a Tech Revolution

April 17, 2015 7:29 am PST | Effective Governing

In this week’s featured Open Data TV video, Saf Rabah talks about the democratization of information. Open data, he finds, is driving a technology revolution.

Rabah points to history: in the past fifteen years or so, information and connectivity have become accessible in ways unimaginable before. Rabah describes how the effect of this democratization can be seen everywhere: in the ubiquity of our connection to the Internet, in the use of open-source software, and even in the way students learn. What was once privileged information, is now readily available.

And in the same way, open data is joining into this democratization. “Open data is part of the big revolution,” says Rabah, who predicts that innovation will spill forth as data emerges, and is put to use.
