ODTV Video of the Week: A Worldwide Turn Toward Transparency

Just think: at some point in the ’90s, it seemed optional for governments to have websites. The Internet was new then, and we didn’t know how much it would dominate our lives, and become a go-to source for information. Now, every government has a website, and the new default is being transparent and sharing data with the public.

As Kevin Merritt comments in this week’s  featured ODTV video, “governments are adopting open data because it’s not longer controversial; the return on investment is obvious and evident now.” Watch the full video to see why turning toward transparency is so appealing for governments around the world.
